A whimsical yet powerful image which delights many and yet has the power
to gleefully upset some. It has a nice built in delay to it. People first
react to the cat. Then, several seconds later, realize what it is composed
of. When I finished the piece I thought women would probably find it less
appealing, reacting more squeamishly to the notion. But, the reverse has
proved more the rule. The collectors purchasing this image have all been
women.
For me personally it is a conundrum. Is this the dream of the cat or
the dream of the mice? Is it the feline hunter’s ultimate catch or
the hunted mice & rats banding together to achieve the power of the
cat? There is no answer, hopefully only delight.
